Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden

I recently went to a birthday gathering in Queens. Astoria specifically. And naturally, at the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden. The idea was to eat and drink the whole day away. A birthday dream to my friend. This place is all about the beer. And Hoegaarden was my choice for the day. After a couple of shared pitchers, we got hungry. We ordered a variety to share. And to be quite honest, it wasn't too bad. It's not fancy, just like the place. I liked it and would definitely order it again. First, I had the schnitzel which is a flattened, breaded, fried pork chop. It was dry but well seasoned. Fries as a side is standard. Plus, it helped soak up the beer in my belly. We also shared some pickles and bacon. No fuss. Just salty and sour. Later on, on round two of food, we ordered Kielbasa. So satisfying. Crisp skin and moist meat inside. Also, we tried the turkey sausage. Ooey, gooey, cheese inside. This was good. When we arrived at 12noon on a Saturday, it wasn't crowded at all. Sparse actually. We claimed our tables easily. As 3pm rolled around, the tide turned. No free tables in sight! And by that time, we had a nice glaze going on. I like this place. It's simple and doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. It's great to relax and enjoy the day. The beer kept flowing. And the food was eaten. A good birthday indeed. I would go here again in a heartbeat.
