Doughnut Plant
I've been humming to the tune of doughnuts ever since Dr. Mandoo brought over a couple of delicious specimens. She took a side trip to Doughnut Plant for some treats for me and herself. I tried the Tres Leche and the Creme Brulee. The Tres Leche reminded me of a glazed doughnut which is my favorite flavor. But, I fell in love with the Creme Brulee, cream and all. I normally don't like filled doughnuts (jelly, custard, etc). But this was totally different and was delicious! Thank you, Dr. Mandoo. Anyhow, I had to make a stop there myself shortly after that experience.
I arrive pretty late in the day and they were sold out of some of the popular flavors. But I was able to score a Chocolate Valrhona and Pomegranate. The chocolate was so good. In fact, my friend and I devoured it with happy chocolate all over our faces. The pomegranate was sweet and tangy. There are a couple of seeds on top of the glaze. It didn't have a heavy pomegranate taste but I liked it anyway.
Mmm, mmm. Fresh doughnuts are just heavenly. *Homer drooling ensues* Doughnut Plant 379 Grand Street New York, NY 10002 (212) 505-3700 doughnutplant.com
