We were at it again! Another FBM potluck! My friends and I really enjoying eating and cooking for each other. Whomever suggested this idea in the first place definitely gets some props!
Here are my Asian chicken wings both spicy and savory. I think these turned out pretty good. The spicy had a nice slight lingering heat while the savory was just super flavorful from all the sauces.
I also made some tiramisu cake for Yvo of the Feisty Foodie. Her birthday was not too far from this potluck. I took it upon myself to make her a cake. I also needed more practice in cake making. Oh and the picture below? Please do not be fooled by the toothpicks. They're for travel needs only. The toothpicks prevents the plastic wrap from sticking to the top of the cake. Once you're ready to serve, pull the picks out and cover again with cocoa powder.
And this is what the inside looks liked. Layers of coffee soaked cake, marscapone cream, topped with cocoa powder. I think this tasted okay. A little sweet for my own taste. I needed some stronger and better coffee. Also, the layering can be improved by evening out the coffee soaking.
Here is some bacon dip by CT. This was chock full of bacon. Crazy bacon dip. More meat than actual dip? That's nuts in a good way. I'm sure that bread bowl was awesome later on.
Pork souvlaki made to order by Cheeeeeese. Delicious! The pork was really juicy. And cooked to order? Damn, that's dedication! I enjoyed this. Loved the tzatziki sauce too. Nice and thick with chunks of cucumber.
Mustardy pulled pork by TT. Nice tender pork with a hint of mustard. I wish it had more mustard flavor. I'm a mustard fiend!
3 types of Moroccan dips made by Dean of Nommables. Mmm, good. So unique. I've never had anything like these before. I can't specifically remember the names but I think one is eggplant, one tomato, and the other chickpea.
Roast pork and brussels sprouts by Chris. Ooooh, love brussels sprouts Nice caramelization.
I believe these are caramelized shallots or onions. Nice rich flavor that went well with the pork.
In the front we have some kimchi bacon fried rice made by Yvo of the Feisty foodie. Who doesn't like fried rice? A little more bacon and slightly spicier would make this perfect.
In the back, some store bought empanadas from TC (also the booze man). Eh, I was just okay with those. I like my empanadas deep fried and I thought these were baked.
An apple crisp by CT. I forgot to taste this because someone moved it off the main table. Booo....
My first two plates of glory! A little of everything. Oooh la la!
Some mini pumpkin pies made by Megan. Single bite pies with some spice and whipped cream. She knows how to get to a man's or woman's heart.
Butternut squash lasagna from Sir Eats A Lot. This was a nice contrast to all the meat, especially pork, we were having that day. I liked the odd addition of nuts to this recipe. It was a happy surprise!
I think this was sausage bread made by the BeerBoor. I didn't get to try it though. I came too late.
And here's some calzones made by Goats. Meats and cheese stuffed in some dough then baked? Oh yeah!
The Blindbaker made some pasta with bolognese sauce. Tasted okay but wish there was a little more sauce to go with the pasta.
And finally some wine sorbet from Niu Yorker. I actually really liked these. Slightly sweet but also tart. I would definitely go out to buy this.
Here are a variety of different sorbets ranging from red to white to champagne.
Another day, another good food party. What can I say? My friends can cook!

OMIGOSH. I have been dying to do a potluck! Can i please come to the next one? I promise to throw down like whoa! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHey now. Finally see your potluck post. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd the empanadas were baked ones and fried ones. There were a lot more in the kitchen that weren't put out. The ones in your pic are the fried ones (baked ones have a twist on the top of it like dumplings and thicker shell). You got there too late I think. They're much better hot, liek when I first arrived they still were.
