Lioni's in Brooklyn makes some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They can be a little pricey but they're generous with the meat and the sandwiches are HUGE! It's always a two meal sandwich for me. For bigger eaters, you'll be very full from one whole sandwich but satiated for a long while.
Look at that beauty! Nice crusty Italian bread encassing layers of meats and cheese.
So what did I order this time? I forget the actual name because their heroes menu is very extensive. However, the ingredients were prosciutto, cappicola, fresh mozzarella, balsamic vinaigrette, and roasted red peppers. This baby is about $10-$12. Yeah that sounds like a lot for a sandwich but it's really big and delicious! The nice salty cured meats, the tangy vinegar, the creamy cheese, and sweet peppers. Drooooool....
He got a hot sandwich with roast beef, ham, and chicken cutlet. He really like it. I thought it could have used a little bit of something. Maybe a vegetable? Just something different besides meat. Though, he certainly got his variety with chicken, pork, and beef.
And for kicks, we got the prosciutto balls. They heated it up for us. These breaded and fried cheese and meat stuffed balls were pretty big.
Here is what the inside looks like. Lots of cheese, very little rice, and specks of prosciutto spread throughout. These were just okay. I thought that there was too much cheese. Texturally, it was unappealing. The prosciutto was forgettable. I wouldn't get these again. Stick with the sandwiches.
Oh did I mention that Lioni's makes the best store bought fresh mozzarella in my life. Yes, I said it. In my life. I will stand by that.
