My Trip to Hong Kong (Day 4): The Jockey Club

We all took a nap after lunch after being tired from the day's business and food. We woke up just in time to get ready for some horse racing. Luckily, we scored a table to eat there too.

We sat above an area where they showcased the horses before they raced. What a sight!
In fact, the location of our table/area was called The Home Straight because that's the part of the track that was below. It was cool to see the horses race neck to neck in some of the rounds.

The menu work where appetizer and dessert is buffet style. However, entree is served as a plated dinner. So you order ahead of time which dish you would want.
And here's what my first appetizer plate looked like. I took some salad, smoked fish, pate en croute, glutinous rice cubes, cheese (camembert and brie), and a sweet dinner roll. Everything was okay for me. I enjoyed the refreshing salad and the smoke fish a lot. The cheese for some reasons didn't excite me.
My second plate involved only seafood. I slowly peeled and picked at the crab claws and head on shrimp. Sweet victory after all that hard work. I am no stranger to working for my bounty.
And then the entree came. I had the angus prime rib roast. It came with roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots. The side sauce is horseradish. The main gravy was a mushroom sauce that was savory and rich. The meat was well cooked to my specification of medium rare. I really enjoyed it. It was very tender and juicy.
Some other dishes of the night included red snapper which was praised and delight.
And Indian lamb curry over rice which seemed to be liked as well.
Not much room left for dessert so I grabbed some fresh fruit, ice cream, jasmine creme brulee (which wasn't very good), and black bean pancake (which wasn't very good either).
All in all, it was a good meal. The entree was definitely the star by far. The appetizers and desserts were just okay. However, if you pick and choose wisely, you'll have a very fantastic meal.

Oh and the races, I won a little bit of money betting on a horse named Fat Fat. Ha!
