Awhile ago, I was introduced to Robicelli's cupcakes through Lily O'Briens. I wasn't a fan. However, I found out that some vendors who supply Robicelli's cupcakes actually freeze them. WHAT?! I am not a fan of freezing cake. I think it really affects the texture and flavor. So when I heard that the actual Robicelli wife and husband team were manning a pop up awhile ago, I went and tried their cupcakes fresh. Below, the Carbomb and the Chicken and Waffle.
I picked the chicken and waffle cupcake for myself. You can't tell here but they drizzled some maple syrup on top. The chicken was actually pretty well fried and juicy. The icing was sweet but not overly so. And the cake was moist, soft, and delicious. What a difference!
The Carbomb was rich and decadent. The cake was Guinness Stout, and the icing Jameson and Bailey's cream. This was really good as well. I didn't think the alcohol part of the dessert was really pronounced but I enjoyed the texture and flavor of the whole thing.
I really liked the cupcakes and would venture out to buy them again. I'm still not a cupcake fan like some other people. Sliced cake instead, please. But I definitely enjoyed theses above all other cupcakes.
