Tuesday Nights: Dorian Gray

Towards the end of the last year, my friends thought that we weren't hanging out enough. It's true, we weren't. So they started Tuesday night get-togethers. Every Tuesday, we'll pick a bar to drink, eat, and hang out for a couple of hours. Whomever can make it will attend. If you're busy, it's okay. There's always next week. So this is Tuesday Nights on Tasty Eating where you will find bars that serve food and how we like them.

Recently, we headed out to: Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray was picked by Mr. Matzo Ball because we all could use a change of scenery. Meaning, we wanted to start getting out of Midtown. We forgot how much we love downtown and how much we used to hang out there.

The bar was pretty sparse when we arrive with just a couple of other patrons that night. We easily got a table for 6 and began to order. We started with the drinks. This, below, is their house specialty. I forget the name but it was pretty tasty. Very easy to drink and not too bitter.

We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share as usual. So buffalo wings (8 for $12) are always a crowd favorite. These were just mediocre and at $1.50 per wing, I would pass next time.

The curry chips ($6) were not bad. The fries were crispy yet soft inside. The curry sauce was just okay though. I ended up dipping the fries in gravy from the next dish.
Bangers and mash ($10)! The pork sausages and mashed potatoes were drowned in a mushroom and onion gravy. I like this. Comforting and thick. Great for fry dipping.
Lastly, we ordered sliders (2 for $6). These were actually pretty nice. Well seasoned beef cooked medium rare with some cheese on top and a soft roll.
The food we had at Dorian Gray wasn't anything special but the waitress was nice and the atmosphere relaxed. I wouldn't mind coming here again.
