Ever since my first meal at Brindle Room with the Feisty Foodie, we've been wanting to go back. I wanted to try the burger on its own and she wanted her friends to claim it as the best burger. We've had recent disagreements. So with TC, TT, FF, DLS, and Mr. M&P, we all headed out to finally claims which burger is better: Peter Lugers or Brindle Room.
While I only had burger on my mind, TC really wanted to try the fried chicken ($15)...to start. Yes, he ate all 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, and collard greens to start by himself. And yes, he did get a burger as an entree as well.
I wanted to try the Fried Oysters ($3 each) so I ordered 2 for just a taste. They were okay meaning they were fried and creamy inside. But it just didn't excite me too much. I would get this again but it's not a must have.
FF and her guest DLS started on the duck poutine (~$10). It smelled wonderful and it was quickly devoured right before our eyes. I know it would be too much to eat that AND the burger this time. I wanted a true burger assessment this time around.
And here's the burger ($12) with fries. We all got it except for Feisty who decided to eat the fried chicken instead.
And here's the burger which was ordered at medium rare. It was really underwhelming. Sure there was flavor from the fat but that was it. I was craving more beef flavor. Also, the burger itself was smaller than the bun. Significantly smaller. You can't tell in this picture because I squeezed it together to even it out.
At the end of the meal, we were presented with some salted caramel doughnut holes on the house. One for each person. Unfortunately, these tasted nothing of salted nor caramel. Disappointed.
Actually, that was my feeling for this entire meal: disappointment. I felt that my first experience was much more pleasant. Is consistency an issue? I hope not. Maybe just an off night. I'm willing to go back one more night to determine the results again. But for now, Peter Lugers burger dominated this experiment.

It's ALL about the Luger burger!
ReplyDeleteTheir burger & fried chicken were just okay but nothing special. Mashed taters were standard and collard green were cooked well. The donut holes were citrusy, not salty caramel-ly.
ReplyDeleteLuger Burger still retains the crown for me too.
Oh, Mr. M&P ate a piece for me (Drum I believe). I can't say I ate ALL 3 but I did redeem myself with two desserts later...damn those key lime curds. ;P
