Pino's

I found myself in Woodbridge, NJ one day doing errands and needed a place for lunch. We asked a friend who grew up here for advice and he suggested Pino's Pizza, a neighborhood pizza joint. When we arrived, I liked what I saw. A hole in the wall type place. No frills. Bingo.

We walked in and studied the huge menu. Sure there was plenty of pizza to be had but I was thinking hot sandwiches. So, Mr. M&P and I split the large meatball parm ($8).
And also the large chicken parm ($8.55). Both sandwiches were pretty big so I was fully expecting to save half for later.
When we received the sandwiches, I was a little worried. They didn't look like any previous parm sandwiches that I've had in the past. But one bite in and I knew why. They weren't like any parm sandwiches I've had in the past because they were better. The bread was toasted but soft on the inside. It was very light making the meat to bread ratio just perfect. The amount of sauce and melted cheese was perfect too. They know how to make a well balanced sandwich. I was really, REALLY happy. The chicken was tender and juicy. The tomato sauce was tangy and bright while the cheese was mellow and gooey.

Pino's happily surprised me with it's quality. It's not always about stuffing the living daylights of ingredients into bread. Instead, they gave me a well balanced hero with good ingredients which is what is important. I would definitely go back here.
