Take Out: Dolce & Clemente's

Another trip to Dolce and Clemente's. Darn, why do I keep forgetting to take a picture of the storefront. Anyway, this time the meal was a surprise from Mr. M&P. It was our one year anniversary and we wanted to do something simple on the actual day to celebrate. We already had dinner plans for the weekend. And so he got a wonderful spread of meats, cheeses, and other delectables for us to enjoy.

Prosciutto is my absolute favorite cured meat and he sure got plenty of it. Internationally imported prosciutto di parma too. He knows I like the good stuff. Buttery soft thin slices of meat that just seem to melt in your mouth on contact. The saltiness of the meat, the richness of the fat. It's heavenly.

We also had thin slices of spicy soppresata and sharp provolone cheese. The fatty salami wasn't very spicy at all. In fact, I was convinced that it was the sweet kind. The pungent cheese worked well with the fattiness of the meat.
I love broccoli rabe cooked with garlic and oil. Him, not so much. It's usually too bitter for him. However, he's willing to eat it if it is cooked with Italian sausages. Haha! Though he picked most of the sausages out, I was happy to munch on something green in this meal. They do it very well here. Hardly bitter, still crunchy, and lots of garlic.
And to round out our dinner, we had a chicken parm stromboli. This thing was massive. Like small baby massive. We only ordered a small piece of it and it was lead heavy. We heated it up slowly in the oven as directed by the counterman.
The chicken and sauce warmed through while the cheese melted and oozed. This was...too much. I think the chicken got lost in everything. The breading became soft from the sauce and everything was just messed up. It was the texture that got to me. Otherwise, the flavor was good. I wouldn't mind getting a chicken parm hero from here. Just not the stromboli again.
Dolce and Clemente's is solid. I can go there for just a snack or even a meal. Whatever it may be, they'll have something that catches my eye.
