Tuesday Nights: Tavern 29

Towards the end of  one year, my friends thought that we weren't hanging out enough. It's true, we weren't. So they started Tuesday night get-togethers. Every Tuesday, we'll pick a bar to drink, eat, and hang out for a couple of hours. Whoever can make it will attend. If you're busy, it's okay. There's always next week. So this is Tuesday Nights on Tasty Eating where you will find bars that serve food and how we like them.

On this recent Tuesday Night, we headed out to: Tavern 29
There was a while that we started going to more restaurant oriented places for Tuesday night. We didn't mind but it was getting pricey as a weekly get together. So we tried a little harder to figure out places to try out. Mr. Peanut Head suggested Tavern 29. This two floored bar also boasts a rooftop biergarden. It's the winter now so the roof was out of the question. Instead, we snuggled up in a booth drank from the list of craft beers and scotches.

And what's a Tuesday night with some food. This time, I wasn't in charge of ordering. But my friends did a good job with the guacamole ($12) which was slightly spicy as advertised, steamed duck buns ($12) with duck confit which was fatty and tender, mac n cheese bites ($10) with crunchy crusts and creamy centers, trio of deviled eggs ($7) which were just okay, popcorn shrimp ($14) with lightly battered shrimp that actually came with popcorn, and spicy organic wings ($12) with a nice spicy kick to the taste.
If that wasn't enough, we ordered a platter of beef sliders ($20 - off menu) with perfectly cooked burger patties. Unfortunately, the smoked gouda, white cheddar, and horseradish sauce wasn't very detectable which is a shame because that combination sounds pretty awesome. The bread wasn't much to my liking either. It was dense and didn't work well as slide bun. I'm more of a potato or white roll kind of person.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed myself. The beer kept flowing and the decent food came quickly and hot. It's better than regular fried pub food. I wouldn't mind coming back.

  1. I've been here a couple times for drinks, but never had their food. It looks pretty good, so I guess I'll be making a return visit soon!
