Rutt's Hut

There's something kind of wonderful about old school places that refuse to change because well there's nothing to change. That's how I feel about Rutt's Hut: a hot dog place open since 1928. Now there's a restaurant, bar, and take out stand. You want the take out stand. Cash only by the way.

There's no seating but counters abound. People eat and leave so finding space isn't an issue. They even make a shorter ledge for kids.
So what's to order? Their hot dogs of course. Here they're called rippers because they're deep fried and the skin cracks. Order them as is for plain, well done for more fried goodness, or cremated for charred and almost black. Whatever you cooking method you prefer be sure to try the homemade mustard relish on top. A couple of hot dogs ($1.70 each) aren't enough for Mr. M&P and I so we also ordered a couple of cheeseburgers ($1.65 each), fries ($1.70), and onion rings ($2.25). Though the hot dogs were the stars here, everything else was also good. Classic fast food style burgers, crispy fries, and crunchy onion rings.
Rutt's Hut is a gem and worth stopping off the highway for.
