Del Frisco's

It seems like steak has become the meal to celebrate good news. And good news it certainly was. With The Feisty Foodie and Dessert Zombie, we gathered to wish her good luck on her new job. And what better way to congratulate her than with big pieces of charred meat. Oh yeah. You know you want it.
To start, we had the off the menu slab bacon ($6 each). This is no ordinary diner bacon. This is a thick slab cooked to order. Be careful though. All that bacon means extra salt. All that salt means thirst and downing hard alcohol to quench it. Ahem ahem...

And now onto the steaks. I went for the strip steak ordered medium rare. It was cooked to my exact specification although I would have liked a bit more char on my steak. But taste none the less. Both FF and DZ decided to order the bone-in cowboy steak which is a rib eye. If I prefer rib eye, I certainly would have ordered this too. But I prefer a slightly leaner cut these days.
And now the sides. Creamed spinach, creamed corn, chateau potatoes, and roasted mushrooms. A nice variety to share. Decent but not wow.
Normally, I don't make it to dessert but with DZ with us, I consciously stop eating early so that I may enjoy dessert with him. The lemon cake is quite famous at Del Frisco's. And it was certainly lemony. Moist, fluffy, and delicious.
I think DZ was unhappy that there wasn't chocolate on the menu but he did opt for the trio of sorbets (lemon, raspberry, blood orange). Clearly not the dessert winner here.
Another satisfying meal had at Del Frisco's. Is it the best steak I've had. No but it's very consistent and that's a plus in my book.
