The Capital Grille

Me: Hello, Mr. Haribo Mule
Mr. HM: Hi
Me: Steak dinner in NYC?
Mr. HM: Why yes, of course.
Me: Capital Grille in Midtown?
Mr. HM: Sounds good.

And that's how it usually goes when Mr. Haribo Mule comes into town.
First up, some shrimp cocktail to share. Not huge by steak house standards at all. But the taste was decent.

Some complimentary caesar salad before the main course. This is definitely a nice touch. Lightly dressed with shaved parmegiano cheese.
And now the steaks. I had the 14oz sirloin. Decently cooked but probably needed a bit more seasoning.
To share, the sides were lobster mac and cheese which was lackluster. The lobster was lost. Plain mac n cheese would have been better.
The parmesan truffle fries were just okay as well. The truffle was unnecessary. Just parmesan fries would have sufficed.
The creamed corn with bacon. The smokiness of the bacon was just okay against the corn dish.
And the fresh creamed spinach which was very spinach-y. More spinach than cream, if you like that.
Overall, I just wasn't impressed by Capital Grille. Everything was just okay and didn't wow me at all. With so many other choices for steak in NYC, this wouldn't be a place I would choose to go back to.
